You REALLY know you're old when you can remember (vividly) the Cuban missile crisis, JFK's assassination and burial. I was just finishing "Statistical Quality Control" at the ammunition school at Savanna Ordnance Depot. We had finished a test late in the p.m. when the news came, so we thought it was terribly chicken---- of them to keep us until 4:15 (regular quitting time).

Bettendorf is a beautiful city with a great library.

A few years ago I was barred from the library for getting a little too rowdy on line. The ban lasted for a few years then I called them up and they said they'd give me another chance. So, since then I've been real nice when I go on line there, although I don't go there t0o often.

But Rock Island, on the other hand has banned me for life, simply because I was banned from the Bettendort library and the Davenport library, which has also reinstated me.

But that's okay, I will never go to the Rock Island library again as long as that power mad old broad who currently runs it is in charge anyway.

"Power mad old broad?"

Ooops, I'm probably in the grease again.

The trip was funded entirely by the Saudi government, and administered through the U.S. Conference of Mayors. No Davenport taxpayer funds were used.

Oh, no, there was probably no way to get any kind of a cash settlement, but attorney fees for this kind of case could be substantial. It can be a bit like the jail suits we see in other areas, with tens of thousands paid to the plaintiffs' attorneys even though the actual plaintiffs receive little or nothing.
Thanks for the update, Mr. Allemeier -- I appreciate it.

Leading up to the final ruling, Scott County judges pretty much limited any possible actions that could be taken if Fritzsche won. Without looking at the lawsuit, I don't think the plaintfiff was ever after a large cash settlement.

Thanks for the info! :-)
I assume he was asking for thousands of tax-payer dollars -- I had been waiting to find out whether / how much he would get.

Since the court made its ruling and didn't order any significant action, i.e. force Scott County to re-start the search for a county administrator, the attorney fees issue was minor and the judge's decision based on the law seemed esoteric, so I thought the blog was a good place to put the finishing touches on this issue.
